apparently apple wanted it as a web app so it didn't look too much like their maps app - which it does resemble now that we can see it (directions, sat view etc)
upshot - no backgrounding. fecking apple won't let them do it yet
so it only updates yer location when you fire it!
but when i fire it i might wanna update my status, like today say "WFH, Orla decided sleep was for wimps last night" etc. but don't see how
is anyone gonna actually bother opening it up to let everyone know where they are??

100% uncooler than just having it know all the time
and now i have no reason to buy Orla her iPhone and stow it in her nappy so i know where she is ALL the time
